About Susan Muschweck, Pittsburgh Interior Designer

With an eye for style and color and design, and the savvy to put it all together, Susan combines her many talents to bring client's dreams to life.

Susan is a communications and journalism graduate of Chatham College, which led to posts with major law firms and a directorship at Pittsburgh Magazine. This initial experience gave Susan excellent grounding in budgeting and accountability, and began her journey in matters of visual style.

Susan was then a General Manager and Marketing Director for real estate developments and shopping malls, which provided valuable construction, site design and property management expertise.

Her innate sense of fashion and style then led to nearly two decades of award winning set styling for broadcast, video and print advertising, working with national and international directors and photographers. This honed her talents for color, composition, and putting stunning design together on tight budgets.

Susan is an experienced interior stylist and designer, with the skills that bring affordable, elegant design to single rooms or whole houses and offices. She can redesign, remodel and provide construction know-how for bathrooms, kitchens, small rooms or large areas. A paint color consultation often jump-starts the design strategy, and Susan can also provide staging services to help maximize value for home sales.

Susan can provide landscaping design, garden design and offers move-in and organization project management as well. She will help you make your dream home a reality, affordably, elegantly, and on-time and on-budget.

Jillian Staruch, Jr. Project Manager & Associate Designer

From the initial consultation appointment, to the final inspection, Jillian is involved in every aspect of each project. With a Bachelor’s degree in Architecture from Penn State University, Jillian brings a unique eye to the interior design process. She regularly uses her spatial understanding and computer skills to produce drawings and renderings of room designs and built-in cabinetry.

Her passion for residential architecture has been cultivated ever since her parents designed their family dream home when she was just a child. She recently moved to an urban Pittsburgh neighborhood and fully appreciates the beauty of Pittsburgh.

Jillian initially started as a post grad intern and was quickly promoted to junior project manager/junior designer. She loves experiencing Pittsburgh’s unique neighborhoods as she accompanies Susan to all appointments, while broadening her knowledge of interior design.

Susan is my go-to girl for all decorating projects.

My first project with Susan was for my son’s outdoor graduation party - she transformed my landscaping and deck into a showpiece.

My guests raved about my exquisite backyard oasis!  And because Susan used many perennials, each year my gardens look more and more beautiful.

Ever since, Susan is my go-to girl for all decorating projects.  She has a knack for visualizing just how to improve any living space.

At first, I was worried that using a designer would give my home that “decorators” look…everything too perfect without my personality showing through.

However, I think Susan’s talent is to highlight the best existing pieces in my home while adding just the right new flooring, paint choices or lighting to make each room shine.

For example, she took an art piece that went unnoticed in a corner of my kitchen and moved it to the office she remodeled for me.  Now the piece is a focal point – it just works so much better where she placed it!

Susan has done a kitchen renovation, powder room and bathroom remodel, bedroom redesigned to an office, dining room update and several closet organization projects for me.

She is professional, on-time and deals with only top-notch subcontractors.

It is a joy to work with her.  And I have been thrilled with every single completed project and will absolutely utilize her talents in the future.
